Yep! It’s that time of year again. The time of year when it feels like no matter what I do, everyone in my house gets sick! They seem to get sick at the worst times too. But let’s be honest, is there really a good time to be sick. No. Any time is a terrible time and in the winter it’s ALL THE TIME! I find myself asking over and over again, “Why can’t we all just stay well?” or saying things like, “Don’t cough over here! I can’t afford to be sick this week!” I know you all know what I’m talking about!

In the face of endless coughing, sneezing and whining, it’s easy to slip into a victim mentality, asking, “Why does this always happen to me?” However, as one of my favorite authors, David Emerald, teaches in his book, “The Power of TED“, that we have the power to shift our perspective and become creators of our own destiny. This transformation isn’t about denying difficulties, but rather about embracing them as opportunities for growth and learning. As Ralph Waldo Emerson wisely noted, “Nothing external to you has any power over you.” By adopting a creator mindset, I have learned to turn the adversity I feel during cold and flu season into a catalyst for personal development, echoing Elder David A. Bednar’s insight that our mortal experiences, even suffering, can teach us invaluable lessons. Let’s jump in and talk about some of the things I’ve learned to boost immunity and overall well-being during this time of year.

Immunity Boosting Natural Remedies

Boosting your immunity doesn’t have to be complicated. Here’s a simple guide to help you stay healthy naturally:

Mindset Matters

Start with your mind. Pray, meditate, and trust your instincts. Remember, healing begins in the mind. Take a moment to center yourself:

  • Place your hands on the sides of your head, thumbs pointing down in front of your ears
  • Breathe deeply to bring your body into balance

Nourish Your Body

When you’re feeling under the weather, try these alternatives to traditional “sick foods”:

  • Soothing soups: Homemade chicken noodle, rice, or root vegetable
  • Gentle options: Applesauce, smoothies
  • Comforting teas: Mint or ginger

Cut back on sugar and dairy, and incorporate pure, raw oils like coconut and olive oil. These healthy oils help keep your blood at the correct pH which then is able to kill off bacteria, viruses and yeast before they overgrow and make you sick. Honestly, when someone in my house starts to get sick I don’t reach first fir the vitamin C like I used to, I reach first for the olive or coconut oil and that kicks the cold or flu every time.

Natural Boosters

Consider these natural remedies:

  • Tinctures:
    • Immune Shield Syrup contains two kinds of echinacea, oregano, eleuthero and other herbs which are a powerful immune stimulant for everyone. Because it contains maple syrup, it’s great for kids because of its sweet taste.
    • Herbal Defense contains echinacea, goldenseal, poke root, cayenne and other herbs and will help you overcome infections and supports your overall immune health.
    • Parasite Relief (formerly called Herbal Mectin) contains Sweet Annie, myrrh, sarsaparilla and neem leaf. Don’t let the name fool you. This tincture isn’t just great at eliminating parasites, it goes to work on all viruses and any stealthy pathogens you may have.
  • Herbs: Echinacea tea, Fire Cider (a powerful antibiotic and immune boosting tonic made of ACV, onion, garlic, cayenne and may other potent and healing herbs and spices)
  • Supplements: Vitamins C, E, D, Zinc, Grapefruit Seed Extract (you can buy it here on our Amazon affiliate link)
  • Essential oils: Use an immune support blend from your favorite distributor that includes oregano, cinnamon, clove and other oils that boost immunity (diffuse and apply to feet)

Simple Techniques

Try these easy practices:

  • Acupressure: Gently tap your thymus (middle of chest) like Tarzan
  • Essential oil application: “Foot, foot, neck, neck, breathe deeply 10 times through your nose”
  • Movement: Rest when needed, and try gentle rebounding to flush your lymph

Remember, immunity-boosting natural remedies include focusing on the mind, body, and spirit. Listen to your body and give it the care it needs.
