Gut health is complex. This tincture can be used anytime you have a gut issue. You may find that using it during one, or all, of the “gut” months will be extra helpful. Different parts of the digestive system renew during different times of the year:
- Small intestine renews in May
- Stomach renews in August
- Large Intestine (Colon) renews in November
All these powerful herbs help boost digestion, and will certainly help improve overall gut health. There are other helpful changes you can make in your diet to improve your gut health.
- Include bone broth in your diet to help provide a good “soil-type” foundation for healthy bacteria. This comes in powdered form and is very easy to add to smoothies or other dishes.
- Include a good food based probiotic, such as kefir, sauerkraut, sourdough bread, apple cider vinegar, etc.
- Swallowing a probiotic capsule will help to some degree, so if you don’t have the fermented food, this is also a good option, but really try to increase the fermented food for best results.
- Include lots of different, healthy foods and spices in your diet to build a robust gut microbiome.
- Avoid refined sugars and white flours.
- Avoid large amounts Ibuprofen
- Avoid antibiotics if at all possible. If you need to take some, use probiotics to help rebalance.

What are tinctures? Tinctures are herbal medicines made with whole herbs and vodka. Alcohol is the only substance that can pull the awesome medicinal properties out of the herb and into solution. I find this quite preferable to manufactured medication. A couple things to consider: When taking a few squirts of tincture you are taking in about the same amount of “alcohol” as there is a ripe banana. The making of alcohol is a natural phenomenon and in such small medicinal doses not harmful. Also some people will squirt their tincture into hot water to burn off the alcohol before they drink it.
