This is wonderful for seasonal allergies, but will also help general sniffles from the common cold. Since sniffles and watery eyes can feel constant, this is a tincture you can take more often as needed.
Allergies are the result of antibodies responding to non-threatening proteins, such as those found in grass, pollen, etc. This creates an inflammatory response which releases histamines into the bloodstream. Over time this response can be lessened by maintaining a healthy immune system. Diet, stress, hormones, and environmental toxins all play a part in helping you overcome allergies in the long run.
Other allergy tips:
- Often the gut is the place to start. Bone broth lays a foundation for gut healing, essential before adding probiotics, which can significantly aid recovery. Good natural probiotics include fermented foods like kefir, sauerkraut, kimchi, and yogurt.
- Include garlic and foods high in vitamin C in your diet, as they naturally reduce histamines.
- Many say that local honey helps with allergies in your area.
- Use a neti pot, or a product called Xlear, to flush out your sinuses with saline so sinus infections don’t take hold.

What are tinctures? Tinctures are herbal medicines made with whole herbs and vodka. Alcohol is the only substance that can pull the awesome medicinal properties out of the herb and into solution. I find this quite preferable to manufactured medication. A couple things to consider: When taking a few squirts of tincture you are taking in about the same amount of “alcohol” as there is a ripe banana. The making of alcohol is a natural phenomenon and in such small medicinal doses not harmful. Also some people will squirt their tincture into hot water to burn off the alcohol before they drink it.
